Introduction to Research Computing and HiPerGator

Intended for new users, this training provides a general overview of the UF Research Computing facilities and basic usage of HiPerGator. This training is available as a single webinar or face-to-face session, or may be viewed as a three-part series below.

Workshop Materials 

Introduction to Research Computing and HiPerGator

  • This module introduces Research Computing and outlines some of the services offered, focusing on HiPerGator, the university’s supercomputer for research.

Connecting to HiPerGator

  • This module covers connecting the HiPerGator with ssh and SFTP clients from Mac and Windows computers.

SLURM Job Scripts on HiPerGator

  • This module introduces the SLURM job scheduler that manages the jobs running on HiPerGator. It covers the main SLURM directives used to specify CPU, memory and time resource requests. Additional directives are also covered.
