SPSS and SamplePower 3 Series

In this practical workshop series, participants will learn to use SPSS and SamplePower 3 software packages. Completion of the series earns a UFIT SPSS SamplePower 3 Certificate. Registration for Summer sessions will open the week of April 17th.

Participation and Certificate details

All participants are required to attend Exploratory Data Analysis.

Participants may selectively attend subsequent sessions according to their needs.

To earn the UFIT SPSS SamplePower 3 Certificate, a participant must attend all six sessions and satisfactorily complete all assignments.

About the Sessions

The SPSS & SamplePower 3 series of workshops include six three-hour live sessions:

  • Data preparation and exploratory data analysis
  • Inferential statistics for the mean and the median
  • ANOVA and simple linear regression
  • Multiple linear regression
  • Inferential statistics for the proportion
  • Logistic regression

This workshop series does not teach Statistics, rather how to use the software for scientific research.

  • A functional knowledge of basic statistics at the graduate level is recommended. 
  • Statistical analysis of STAT 6126 and STAT 6127 is covered in 18 hours with the exception of repeated measure analysis.
  • Power Analysis for each of the statistical test covered during the workshops by using Sample Power 3 will be addressed.

Prerequisites:  

STAT 6126 and STAT 6127

OR

ALS 5932, EDF 6402, EDF 6403, HLP 6515, and STA 6166

Undergraduate students are not allowed to attend these workshops, and we recommend either the SPSS basic course with Lynda.com, or contacting Dr. David Schwieder (dschwieder@uflib.ufl.edu) at Library West for SPSS assistance.
